How to book KTX trains in Korea
Find the right station, buy from the official operator and keep a ticket you can actually retrieve on travel day.

TRANSPORT · TRAINS
KTX is KORAIL’s high-speed train and a practical way to connect cities such as Seoul, Busan, Gyeongju and Jeonju. The most common traveler mistake is searching for the city name without checking which station actually serves the route.
Book through KORAIL
- Open KORAIL’s official English website or the KorailTalk app.
- Enter the departure station, arrival station, date and passenger count.
- Compare departure time, train type and total journey time.
- Select the train and seat option, enter passenger details and pay.
- Save the confirmation and ticket offline.
Check the station—not only the city
Seoul has Seoul Station, Yongsan, Cheongnyangni and other rail terminals serving different routes. Gyeongju’s main high-speed station is outside the historic center. Confirm both ends on a map and include the local transfer in your schedule.
When to reserve
Popular trains can sell out around weekends, holidays and major events. Search as soon as sales open for a fixed itinerary, but remember that release dates can change around timetable updates and holiday booking periods.
On travel day
- Arrive early enough to find the platform and carriage position.
- Match the train number, departure time, car and seat on the ticket.
- Keep the ticket and identification used for booking available.
- Do not board an SRT service with a KORAIL ticket; they are separate operators and tickets.
The schedule may not be on sale yet. Check KORAIL notices rather than assuming every train is sold out.
KORAIL Pass or point-to-point tickets?
A rail pass can suit travelers taking several eligible long-distance trips in a short period. Compare the current pass price and reservation rules with the exact point-to-point fares for your itinerary before buying.
